Panama Canal reduces the maximum number of ships travelling the waterway to 31 per day

The Panama Canal is reducing the maximum number of ships allowed to travel the waterway to 31 per day due to a drought that has cut the supply of fresh water needed to operate the locks PANAMA CITY -- The Panama Canal announced Saturday it will reduce the maximum number of ships travelling the waterway to 31 per day, from 32 in August, due to a drought that has reduced the supply of fresh water needed to operate the locks. That compares to daily averages of 36 to 38 ships per day under normal operation. Nine ships per day will be allowed to use the new, bigger NeoPanamax locks and 22 per day will be handled through the older Panamax locks. The Canal Authority guaranteed a draft of 44 feet for ships , in part because 70% of ships using the waterway need at least that depth. In August, the canal implemented a measure capping the number of ships passing through its locks daily to a maximum of 32. Not enough rain has fallen to feed the water shed system of rivers and brooks that fill la

It's why on his first day, President Biden signed an executive order to address racial inequity, working to narrow the racial wealth gap by creating millions of new, good paying jobs and more funding for black businesses," a narrator says. The narrator continues: "But it's also lowering the cost of living, including health premiums,

NCAAF Middle Tennessee State vs Western Kentucky Same Game Parlay

That’s when online sports gambling becomes legal throughout Kentucky, and it coincides perfectly with an early-week college football showdown between the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. Both programs have been battle tested against some tough competition heading into this Conference USA season opener. Here is my Same Game Parlay for the festivities, which will be televised starting at 7:30 pm ET on CBSSN. Also be sure to check out our full Middle Tennessee State vs Western Kentucky predictions . Middle Tennessee State ML (+188) Jaiden Credle Over 43.5 rushing yards (-114) Markese Stepp to score a touchdown (-110)   Parlay odds: +854 One of the benefits of Same Game Parlays, of course, is that you can correlate the plays. Trent Alexander-Arnold returns to Liverpool training before Leicester clash

Image
Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders has confirmed that right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is back in training after shaking off a hamstring injury. Alexander-Arnold limped out of the 3-0 win over Aston Villa at the start of September and has missed the team's last three Game s in all com Pet itions, as well as the international break with England. Liverpool are back in action on Wednesday when they face Leicester City in the Carabao Cup third round, before which Lijnders revealed Alexander-Arnold is inching closer to a return. "Trent trained [on Monday] with us but it was just in the rondo and the ball possession with the counter-pressing, but he was outstanding," Lijnders told a press conference. "You see him instantly, of course. He is with the team training , I am not sure if he will be ready [to face Leicester], we will see today." Later in the press conference, Lijnders clarified: "Tomorrow comes too early for [Alexander-Arnold]." Lijnders took charg

Christopher Nkunku's injury has derailed Chelsea's season - Mauricio Pochettino must be braver to fix things

Image
As Chelsea fans hoped heading into the campaign, Christopher Nkunku has had a huge hand in the Blues' fortunes so far this season - just not for the reasons anyone had wished. 12 months of anticipation culminated in the announcement of his £52m arrival from RB Leipzig during summer and Nkunku wasted little time entertaining supporters during pre- season . He featured in five Game s, scored three goals and appeared to be dragging everyone around him to higher heights. Then he got injured. Nkunku went down with a knee injury early in a draw with Borussia Dortmund and is not expected to return to the pitch until the very end of this calendar year or, perhaps more likely, the start of 2024. The injury is obviously an enormous blow for Chelsea and one which has had a catastrophic impact on literally everything at Stamford Bridge. National Punctuation Day (September 24th)

Image
Quick facts When is it? Every September 24th What's the hashtag? #NationalPunctuationDay Who founded it? Jeff Rubin Have we missed something? Why does punctuation matter? Some people find inspiration in cooking their families and their dogs. Others find inspiration in cooking, their families, and their dogs. Let’s face it, punctuation saves lives. It may sound a little strange to say that, but when you think of the effect that just the humble comma can have on the meaning of a sentence, it becomes readily apparent that there are some really strong arguments for learning to use them properly. For instance, you really don’t want to say “Let’s eat Grandma!” when you mean “Let’s eat, Grandma!” The first means you’re suggesting you eat your sweet old granny, the second invites her to come dine with you, see the difference? National Punctuation Day shares this wisdom with the world, as well as the wisdom of all the other forms of punctuation. History of National

First India MotoGP race to be shortened due to intense heat

Sunday's grand prix will now feature three fewer laps than planned, while the sprint race that is set to take place this afternoon has been cut short by a lap. MotoGP riders got to sample the Hermann Tilke-designed Buddh circuit for the first time Friday, with two extended 70-minute practice sessions helping them get accustomed to the venue. While riders were unanimous in praise of the layout, hailing the technical challenge and the variety of corners the circuit has to offer, the intense heat in Delhi made it physically demand to complete long stints.  Many felt the conditions were worse than what they experience in some Asian venues such as Sepang and Buriram, with Ducati's Francesco Bagnaia saying "you feel like you are burning on the back straight, you start to feel you throat burning, your legs burning.” After second practice, riders expressed their concern to race control, who felt that action needed to be taken on account of saf
