The federal judge overseeing former President Trump's election interference case has temporarily halted the limited gag order she placed on him on Monday. The federal judge overseeing former President Donald Trump's election interference case in Washington, D.C., on Friday temporarily halted the limited gag order she had placed on the former president on Monday. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan requested briefings from the government and from Trump's lawyers following Trump's appeal of her order earlier Friday. A judge has denied a motion by former President Trump seeking to stymie Fulton County DA Fani Willis' probe into efforts to overturn Georgia's 2020 election results. In another blow to former President Donald Trump's efforts to stymie Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' investigation into his conduct after the 2020 presidential election , a judge on Monday denied a motion filed in March by Trump's legal team seeking to disqualify Willis and quash the findings of a special grand jury convened to review evidence in the matter. In his ruling, Judge Robert McBurney wrote that Trump's legal argument was "insufficient because, while being the subject (or even target) of a highly publicized criminal investigation is likely an unwelcome and unpleasant experience, no court ever has held that that status alone provides a basis for the courts to interfere with or halt the investigations." McBurney's denial marks the latest in a series of leg...

Kuwait is alone among Gulf Arab countries in having a democratically elected assembly that exerts some checks on the ruling family. But in recent years, the political system has been paralyzed by infighting and unable to enact even basic reforms. “People on the ground are not very optimistic right now about change, and that’s why you see this frustration and probably a low voter turnout and low number of people running,” said Dania Thafer, executive director at the Gulf International Forum, a Washington-based think-tank. The polls will close...
