Tesla wins first US Autopilot trial involving fatal crash

Tesla on Tuesday won the first US  trial over allegations that its Autopilot driver assistant feature led to a death, a major victory for the automaker as it faces several other lawsuits and federal investigations related to the same Technology . The verdict represents Tesla's second big win this year, in which juries have declined to find that its software was defective. Tesla has been testing and rolling out its Autopilot and more advanced Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, which Chief Executive Elon Musk has touted as crucial to his company's future but which has drawn regulatory and legal scrutiny. The outcome in civil court shows Tesla's arguments are gaining traction: when something goes wrong on the road, the ultimate responsibility rests with drivers. MotoGP celebrated its 1000 th  grand prix event with a chaotic 27-lap race on Sunday at Le Mans, where only 13 riders finished as the likes of Bagnaia, Maverick Vinales and Marc Marquez all crashed out. A late crash for Marquez while fighting with Pramac’s Jorge Martin dropped him out, with Martin heading team-mate and home hero Johann Zarco. Standings leader Bagnaia’s race ended on lap five in a collision with Vinales as they debated third place, with Bezzecchi now just one point off the championship lead. Getting as high as seventh, Espargaro crash ed out going through Turn 9, which he said was his own mistake. However, he feels he was driven to it due to the aggression levels required to make up ground in the frenetic sprint format, which he says is unnatural to him. “It’s difficult to overtake in these kinds of races because everybody stresses to the limit the front, they brake super quick and don’t think about the tyre durability,” Espargaro said. “So, to overtake is difficult and it’s all about the qualifying.
