Brisbane bus driver stood down after passenger catches his illegal act while driving

A Brisbane bus driver has been stood down pending an investigation after a passenger caught him watching a video on his phone while driving.

The passenger who filmed the driver and posted the video on social media said the bus was full of passengers.

Footage appears to show the man wearing earphones, with his phone propped up on the dashboard playing a video.

The female passenger reported the driver to Translink.

An investigation is now underway, a Brisbane City Council spokesperson told 7NEWS.

“These actions from a professional driver are disappointing, dangerous, and clearly unacceptable,” they said.

“The driver has been stood down, and an investigation is underway.”

The dangerous act sparked outrage online, with one person saying dismissal was “absolutely warranted”.

“You are responsible for the lives of all those on board and those on the road. A bus can do a hell of a lot of damage”

Another wrote: “This bus driver has endangered innocent people’s lives, is my opinion.”
