Alonso: Aston 'want even more' despite Miami podium

Fernando Alonso has declared Aston Martin "obviously want more" despite a fourth podium of the Formula 1 season in the Miami Grand Prix.

Starting second in Florida, Alonso was passed by the recovering Max Verstappen - who went onto win - and became locked in a battle with Carlos Sainz for the final spot on the podium.

Using a six-lap tyre offset, Alonso re-took third from his fellow Spanish driver on Lap 27 of 57 and steered the AMR23 home to a fourth third place from five races - finishing fourth in the other.

Despite the strong start, the two-time World Champion, who will now officially go 10 years without a Grand Prix victory - has urged the team for more.

"At the beginning of the year, a podium was amazing, but now after four podiums, we want obviously more and at least a second place.

"But the two Red Bulls were unbreakable here and they are always super fast, but maybe in Monaco, maybe in Barcelona, we have a possibility.

"The car is amazing, but it was a lonely race today. Nothing to really do in front of us with the Red Bulls and behind us, we did expect a little bit of a stronger position.

"But Ferrari were worse than expected, so it is never easy but it was a lonely race.

"Obviously on the wrong side of the grid, we were worried about that, but everything was fine.

"We take the podium and go into the triple-header of Imola, Monaco and Barcelona and hopefully we can keep on going."
