The Seattle Mariners will head to Anaheim to start a three-Game set with the Los Angeles Angels this Friday from Angel Stadium on Apple TV.

Mariners Betting Preview

Seattle enters at 30-31 after splitting two with San Diego. The Mariners weren’t able to double down after taking Game one, and they’ll now look to close this road trip strong in LA. The Seattle offense is scoring 3.67 runs per Game, while batting .227, with a .308 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.55 ERA, with a 1.19 WHIP. Ty France had collected multiple hits in three of the last four Games, and he now leads Seattle in hits (66), with solid splits of .272/5/27. Julio Rodriguez homered in the Game one win over SD, and he now holds the team-lead in home runs (11), with 34 RBI. Teoscar Hernandez has a hit in eight of the last ten Games, and he’s up to 32 TBIZ

Luis Castillo (4-3, 2.55 ERA, 82 Ks) will start for Seattle. The seventh-year flamethrower closed May on a very high note, and he brought that energy to Austin, containing a high-octane Rangers lineup to one run over seven innings, while fanning six. La Piedra has allowed just one run through his last three spots after tossing two shutout outings against Pittsburgh and Oakland, and he looks sharp coming into Anaheim here. Castillo even earned his first win of the season over Halos back in April, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings, while striking out six.

Angels Betting Preview

Los Angeles moved to 34-30 after sweeping Chicago. The Angels have responded to three month opening losses with four straight victories, and they’ll now look to keep tacking on wins with postseason aspirations around the corner. The LAA offense is scoring 4.16 runs per Game, while batting .252, with a .331 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.33 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Mike Trout plated a run in the two of three Games against Chicago, and he leads the Halos in runs (38), with 14 homers and 35 RBI. Gio Urshela leads the team in batting (.304), after collecting a hit in five of the last six Games. Brandon Drury has a hit in seven of the last nine Games, and he’s third on the team with ten home runs, and 29 RBI

Shohei Ohtani (5-2, 3.30 ERA, 96 Ks) will make the road start for Los Angeles. The two-way stud struggled in Houston last weekend, allowing five runs in six innings pitched to take his second loss of the season to them. Ohtani had a good month of May, and despite losing to the Astros for a second time, he cleared nine strikeouts in three of five appearances last month, with three of those being quality starts. Ohtani also leads LAA in hits (66), HR (16) and RBI (42).

Seattle vs Anaheim Trends

Seattle is 34-22 against the spread this season, with a 29-24-3 O/U record. LA Angels are 28-28 ATS this year, with a 26-28-2 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

This Halos/Mariners matchup has the potential to be a pitching classic with Luis Castillo and Shohei Ohtani set to take the hill. Both right handers have found success this season, and as much as I’d like to buy into the pitchers’ duel here, the Angels come into this divisional set with a lot of momentum, and they could keep rolling here. Back LAA this Friday night, and give the Under a look just in case we receive gems on both sides.
