Former Tigres player Stefany Ferrer Van Ginkel makes Nazi salute to Israeli protesters

Former soccer player Stefany Ferrer Van Ginkel, who played for the NWSL side Angel City and Mexican top-flight side Tigres, has been receiving serious backlash after a video went viral showing her making a Nazi salute to a group of people at a pro-Israel rally. She was in the passenger seat of a car that her boyfriend, Samim Haydari, was driving when it happened. They passed the rally, which was held as a call to release the hostages in Gaza, and had the window rolled down. Ferrer Van Ginkel made the salute to a group of people waving the Israeli flag.

She and Haydari posted a video to social media of the two of them in which they issued an apology for the gesture, but it has since been deleted along with both of their social media accounts. The 25-year-old has not played professionally for about a year. Her former and most recent club, Angel City, released a statement on X, which said: “Stefany Ferrer Van Ginkel does not play for Angel City Football Club, nor has she been affiliated with the club since November 2022. We condemn her recent actions and statements.”
