Erik ten Hag sends message to Jadon Sancho after Man Utd exit

Erik ten Hag has wished Jadon Sancho well after the winger sealed his loan exit from Manchester United.

Sancho rejoined Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season in an attempt to reignite a career which has stalled ever since the Englishman's public clash with Ten Hag back in September.

After dropping Sancho from his matchday squad to face Arsenal, Ten Hag questioned the winger's training levels but was challenged by Sancho on social media. The 23-year-old claimed to have been made a scapegoat and a refusal to apologise for his comments saw him frozen out of the first team.

With the saga now temporarily over, Ten Hag was keen to move on as soon as possible.

"I hope he's doing well, so I wish him the best of good luck," Ten Hag told Friday's press conference. "That's it. I hope he's doing well and he'll be a success."

When asked a second question on Sancho, the boss abruptly added: "I replied [to the previous question], I think it's enough."

Sancho's loan deal with Dortmund does not include the option for a permanent transfer, with Dortmund director Sebastian Kehl openly admitting his side could not afford to do such a deal.

However, Kehl added that a permanent move could be revisited in the summer if United's financial demands are reasonable. Sancho will have two years remaining on his contract when he returns to Old Trafford, but United do have the option to extend by a further 12 months.

United are hopeful that Sancho, who joined for £73m in 2021, will rebuild his transfer value in Dortmund, where he racked up 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 Games before his ill-fated switch to Manchester.
